Aruba Airport Authority N.V. (AAA) is proud to announce the reopening of Taxiway Golf after an extensive rehabilitation, marking a major milestone in the airport’s ongoing commitment to safety, efficiency, and infrastructure modernization.
Originally constructed in 1997, Taxiway Golf has undergone a full-scale renovation to extend its operational lifespan by another 20 years. The project included two advanced pavement reconstruction techniques: full-depth reconstruction and mill-and-pave. These methods ensured the structural integrity and surface quality of the taxiway, aligning with international aviation standards.
The rehabilitation project was carried out in three phases, with Phase 1 now completed—covering approximately 75% of the total scope of work.
- Phase 1 focused on rehabilitating the straight section connecting the aircraft stands to the runway.
- Phase 2 involved work on the initial sections of Taxiway Golf and Taxiway Charlie.
- Phase 3 completed the link between Taxiway Golf and Runway 11.
Throughout the project, aircraft operations continued smoothly thanks to close coordination between AAA, ANSA (Air Navigation Services Aruba), and airline partners. Temporary taxiing procedures were implemented with minimal impact on flight schedules.
AAA is pleased to share that the first aircraft to taxi on the newly rehabilitated Taxiway Golf was Z Air flight 673, marking the official reopening of the taxiway.
To commemorate this important milestone, AAA held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Taxiway Golf. The ribbon was cut by James Fazio, Interim CEO of Aruba Airport Authority together with Prime Minister Mike Eman & Minister Wendrick Cicilia, Minister of Tourism, Transport, and Labor. The event brought together key stakeholders and partners from the aviation sector and contractors who collaborated, celebrating the successful completion of the project and reaffirming the collaborative efforts driving the airport’s development.
